Athletics
San Juan Unified Athletics
The San Juan Unified School District currently sponsors the cross country, wrestling, and track & field programs. Coaches are typically Carnegie staff members, and there is no cost for students to participate. Families should read and review the Middle School Athletic Handbook, and then sign and return the required paperwork.
Carnegie Middle School offers a variety of recreational after-school sports. The seasons take place roughly as follows:
Cross Country - Mid September through October
Wrestling - November through March
Track & Field - March through May
When registration and/or sign ups for a sports activity are approaching, information will be provided on the Carnegie Connection morning announcements and published in the parent e-newsletter Carnegie Chronicle.
Student athletes may also wish to visit the Positive Coaching Alliance which brings together character traits with high-performing athletes.
You can listen to the San Juan Unified Positive Sports Podcast on Apple or on YouTube
OVRPD Athletics
The Orangevale Recreation and Park District (OVRPD) currently oversees the co-ed volleyball, boys' basketball and girls' basketball programs. Coaching staff is typically provided by the OVRPD, and students must be registered and pay for the activity through the OVRPD. If you are seeking a fee waiver, you can ask the OV Park & Recreation Department but we have no control over their programs. It's important to note that while the park and recreation district is using SJUSD facilities, these are not school sponsored sports.
Details about an activity and the opportunity to register online may be found on the OVPark's website .
